About Copper State Home Pros

Copper State Home Pros is a free guide to the permit, heat and contractor licensing questions of home improvement in Arizona. It lists no businesses and grades none.

What we publish

• Permit rules for Arizona cities, read from each city's own pages.
• Pool barrier rules by city.
• Heat and monsoon normals by county, from NOAA, with the National Weather Service guidance pages.
• A licensing guide that explains what each contractor class covers, with the Arizona Administrative Code and statute text it rests on.
• Guides that cite these sources.

How the facts are kept honest

Every row carries the page it came from and the date we read it. When we could not confirm a rule, the table says "Check with the city" and links to the city; we do not guess. A row we have not read again within 15 months is hidden. Rules change, so confirm with your city or county building department before you start work.

The licensing guide is our own summary. We do not copy or show anything from the Registrar of Contractors' records; to check a contractor, use the Registrar's own search.

Inside the Phoenix metro, we send you to the directory of ours that covers the job. Elsewhere in Arizona, we give you the kit to hire on your own: the permit rule, the licensing guide and the questions to ask.
